Disclosed herein is a new use for water-stable, oil-modified, nonreactive alkyd resins. It has now been found that such resins can be used as the predominant component of a construction adhesive employed in the manufacture of disposable absorbent articles, for example. As such, the construction adhesive need not employ plasticizers, tackifiers, and conventional polymers required by hot-melt adhesives typically used as construction adhesives. Furthermore, in the manufacture of disposable absorbent articles, the construction adhesive containing a water-stable, oil-modified, nonreactive, alkyd resin does not need to be processed or applied at the high temperatures required of construction adhesives containing reactive alkyds.
La présente invention concerne une utilisation inédite des résines alkydes non réactives, modifiées à l'huile et stables à l'eau. On s'est, en effet, aperçu que lesdites résines peuvent être utilisées en tant que composant principal d'un adhésif de structure employé dans le cadre de la fabrication d'articles absorbants jetables par exemple. A ce titre, ledit adhésif de structure n'a besoin d'avoir recours ni à des plastifiants, ni à des additifs d'adhésivité, ni aux polymères traditionnellement exigés par les adhésifs fusibles généralement utilisés en tant qu'adhésifs de structure. En outre, lors de la fabrication d'articles absorbants jetables, l'adhésif de structure contenant une résine alkyde non réactive, modifiée à l'huile et stable à l'eau n'a pas à être traité ou appliqué aux températures élevées exigées pour les adhésifs de structure contenant des alkydes réactifs.
