A method and apparatus powered from the suction side of a pump (12) for cleaning the interior surface (8) of a pool containment wall (3) and the upper surface (7) of a water pool (1) contained therein. The apparatus includes an essentially unitary cleaner body (6) and a level control subsystem for selectively moving the body (6) to a position either proximate to the surface (7) of the water pool (1) for water surface cleaning or proximate to the interior surface (8) of the containment wall (3) for wall surface cleaning. The cleaner body (6) can have a weight/buoyancy characteristic to cause it to normally rest either (a.) proximate to the pool bottom (4) adjacent to the wall surface (i.e., heavier-than-water) or (b.) proximate to the water surface (i.e., lighter-than-water). The level control subsystem produces a vertical force component on the body (6) either by discharging an appropriately directed water outflow from the body, and/or by modifying the body's weight/buoyancy characteristic.

L'invention porte sur un procédé et un appareil alimenté par le côté aspiration d'une pompe (12), destinés au nettoyage de la surface intérieure (8) d'une paroi (3) de bassin et de la surface supérieure (7) de l'eau contenue dans ce bassin (1). L'appareil comporte un corps (6) de nettoyage essentiellement unitaire, et un sous-système de contrôle de niveau permettant de déplacer ce corps (6) de manière sélective, de façon à le rapprocher soit de la surface (7) de l'eau du bassin (1) pour le nettoyage de l'eau de surface, soit de la surface intérieure (8) de la paroi (3) du bassin pour le nettoyage de la surface de la paroi. Le corps (6) de nettoyage peut comporter une caractéristique poids/flotteur lui permettant de se maintenir normalement soit (a.) proche du fond (4) de bassin adjacent à la surface de la paroi (c'est-à-dire "plus lourd que l'eau"), soit (b.) proche de la surface de l'eau (c'est-à-dire "plus léger que l'eau"). Le sous-système de contrôle de niveau produit une composante de force verticale sur le corps (6) par refoulement d'une quantité d'eau provenant du corps et dirigée de façon appropriée, et/ou par modification de la caractéristique poids/flottabilité du corps.
