- 9 - ABSTRACT WATER SWELLING TAPE A water swelling tape for use as a component of cables has a laminate structure comprising at least two laminae bonded together by a super absorbent gel. During manufacture a limited amount of water is added to the surfaces of the laminae which are in contact with the absorbent gel so as to provide the required bond.
