Water is treated with silver ions as an antimicrobial agent, accompanied by a complexing agent to render the silver ions more effective, more stable or both. The complexing agent is an organic ligand which forms a soluble complex with silver ions. Preferred are polymeric materials incorporating at least three carboxylate groups capable of coordinating to silver. Also preferred are amphoteric/zwitterionic surfactants and polyethers.
On traite de l'eau avec des ions argent en tant qu'agent antimicrobien accompagné d'un agent complexant, de façon à augmenter l'efficacité et/ou la stabilité des ions argent. L'agent complexant est un ligand organique qui forme un complexe solide avec les ions argent. Les matériaux préférés sont des matériaux polymères incorporant au moins trois groupes carboxylate capables de constituer un coordonné avec l'argent. Egalement préférés sont des tensioactifs amphotères/zwitterioniques et des polyethers.
