A composition, in unit dosage form, for the batchwise purification for drinking purposes of a relatively small predetermined volume of contaminated water includes: (a) an organo-chlorine compound serving as a disinfectant- sanitizing agent; (b) a solid inorganic metal salt having a trivalent cation serving as a coagulant-precipitate agent; (c) a solid alkali which is highly soluble in water and highly effervescent in the presence of an acid serving as a dispersion-buffer agent; (d) a solid anionic polymeric hydrophilic primary colloid flocculant; (e) a solid cationic, polymeric hydrophilic secondary colloid flocculant; (f) long fiber cellulose serving as an agglomeration matrix and pre-filter for absorbing flocs and trapping visible debris and cysts; and (g) a bulk ion exchange absorbent. A water purification kit and method employing the composition are also disclosed.
L'invention concerne une composition, disponible en doses unitaires, pour purifier de petites quantités d'eau dans un récipient, afin de la rendre potable. Cette composition contient (a) un composé organochloré servant de d'agent désinfectant/purificateur; (b) un sel métallique solide minéral ayant un ion trivalent, pour servir d'agent coagulant/précipitant; (c) un composé alcalin solide hautement hydrosoluble et très effervescent en présence d'un acide pour servir d'agent dispersant/tampon; (d) un floculant primaire solide, anionique, polymère et hydrophile, capable de former un colloïde; (e) un floculant primaire solide, cationique, polymère et hydrophile, capable de former un colloïde; (f) des fibres cellulosiques longues servant de matrice d'agglomération et de préfiltre pour absorber le floc et piéger les débris et les particules visibles, et (g) un absorbant en vrac d'échange d'ions. L'invention concerne également un nécessaire de purification contenant la composition et un procédé d'utilisation.
