593 AHMED WATERBORNE NITROCELLULOSE/ACRYLIC EMULSION ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Water wet nitrocellulose, butyl acrylate/methyl methacrylate monomers and phosphate surfactant are emulsified into an oil-in-water emulsion and polymerized to produce a nitrocellulose/acrylic latex emulsion with a particle size below 0.25 microns. Wood finishing lacquers produced from this latex emulsion are equivalent in performance to solvent lacquers while lowering VoC to below 2.3 lb/gal.
