IN AN IMPLEMENT FOR MANUALLY PROPELLING A WATERCRAFT, IT IS GENERALLY ACCEPTED TO PADDLE OR ROW SUCH WATERCRAFT WITH A PADDLE OR OAR. SUCH TOOL IS DIPPED INTO THE WATER AND STROKED EITHER FORWARD OR BACKWARD MOVING THE WATERCRAFT IN THE DESIRED DIRECTION. SUCH PADDLES OR OARS ARE COMMONLY FLAT OR BANANA SHAPED. MOST OF THE WATER ESCAPES AROUND THE PERIMETER OF EITHER INSTRUMENT LIMITING THE VOLUME OF WATER ACTUALLY USED TO PROPEL ANY WATERCRAFT.
