A wave energy device converts the motion of waves on a body of water into a usable form of energy, for example a flow of pressurized water or an electrical current. The device includes a buoyant body for tracking the rise and fall of the wave and a working surface coupled for movement with the buoyant body and which is designed to capture and convert both heave and surge forces of the waves. The device includes a rapid deployment and retrieval capability and a capability to rotate to accommodate changes in wave direction. The device is universally attached to the sea floor, wich allows the device to pitch, yaw and roll with the wave forces from any direction, thereby reducing the likelihood of damage due to extreme weather or damage to or from marine traffic in the event of an encounter.

L~invention concerne un dispositif d~énergie houlométrice convertissant le mouvement des vagues sur une colonne d~eau en forme d~énergie utilisable, par exemple un écoulement d~eau sous pression ou un courant électrique. Le dispositif contient un corps flottant permettant de suivre la montée et la descente de la vague et une surface de travail couplée pour accompagner le corps flottant et conçue pour capturer et convertir les forces de montée et de descente des vagues. Le dispositif englobe une capacité rapide de déploiement et de récupération, de même qu~une capacité de rotation pour gérer les changements de direction des vagues. Le dispositif est fixé universellement au plancher océanique, permettant au dispositif de suivre un mouvement de roulis, de tangage et de lacet avec les forces des vagues de n~importe quelle direction, réduisant ainsi la probabilité de dégâts imputables à des conditions climatiques extrêmes ou bien du trafic maritime en cas de choc.
