An energy dissipating assembly is provided herein for flowing water such device includes a plurality of modules. Each one of the modules is a buoyant body consisting of a continuous envelope defining a hollow watertight chamber. The envelope has a plurality of intersecting planar surfaces and an attaching member which is connected to at least two spaced locations on the continuous envelope to attach the buoyant body in a three-dimensional relationship. Ports are also provided to adjust the buoyancy and mass of the buoyant body so that the assembly can be tuned for the wave activity of the water in which the system is disposed. A method of disrupting the waves action is also provided.

L'enveloppe présente une pluralité de surfaces planes (28, 36, 40, 60) s'entrecroisant et un élément d'ancrage (44) relié à l'enveloppe en au moins deux endroits séparés, permettant d'attacher le corps flottant dans une relation tridimensionnelle. Les modules comportent également des ouvertures (62) permettant de régler la flottabilité et la masse du corps flottant de manière que l'ensemble (20) puisse être adapté aux vagues de l'eau sur lequel le système est installé. L'invention décrit également un procédé pour arrêter l'action de vagues.
