A wear cap (10) for protecting the wearable surface of a structural member includes an outer wear surface and an inner mounting surface (16). The inner mounting surface (16) is provided with a plurality of tabs (36, 38) and a lock which cooperate to securely attach the wear cap (10) to the wearable surface. The tabs (36, 38) are inclined in a uniform direction at an acute angle to the mounting surface (16) to minimize the amount of travel needed to install and remove the wear cap (10). The lock has a rigid hub and a shaft. The hub includes a pair of bearing faces which interact with the wear cap (10) and the wearable surface (29) to effectively prevent loss of the wear cap (10) during use.

Ce capuchon d'usure (10), destiné à protéger la surface d'usure d'un élément structural, comprend une surface d'usure extérieure ainsi qu'une surface de montage intérieure (16), laquelle est pourvue d'une pluralité de pattes (36, 38) ainsi que d'un système de verrouillage coopérant avec la surface d'usure afin de fixer de manière sûre le capuchon (10) sur ladite surface. Les pattes (36, 38) sont inclinées dans une même direction et forment un angle aigu avec la surface de montage (16), afin de minimiser le déplacement requis pour mettre en place et enlever le capuchon (10). Le système de verrouillage présente un moyeu rigide ainsi qu'un axe. Le moyeu comporte une paire de faces d'appui coopérant avec le capuchon (10) et la surface d'usure (29), afin d'empêcher la perte du capuchon (10) lors de l'utilisation de l'élément structural.
