WEAR PROOFING A MOLD FOP CONTINUOUS CASTING ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The lining of the interior wall surface or a portion thereof, of a copper mold for continuous casting is made, applying a coating material of wearproof substance to that surface or portion and completing the coating as an adhering coating by means of a laser beam whereby the coating metallurgically bonds with mold wall material underneath. The method is applicable to make mold wall inserts and to embed and/or alloy additional substances into the wall.
