ABSTRACT OF THE INVENTION There is disclosed a method of reinforcing a wearing surface on equipment used for moving or process- ing earth, rock and the like which is suitable for field application. The method is comprised of the step of welding a plurality of metal bars to the face of the wearing surface, such that the metal bars define a plurality of compartments which are adapted to accumu- late earth, rock, and the like. There is also disclosed a blade for equipment used in moving earth, rock and the like, which is comprised of a body having a peripheral edge which is adapted to pierce a ground surface, and a face which is adapted to engage earth, rock and the like; reinforcement bars disposed on the face of the body in closely spaced relation defining a plurality of compartments therebetween which are adapted to accumu- late soil; and attachment mountings adapted to attach the body to equipment.
