The present invention is related to a device for protecting open hatches of recreational vehicles such as boats against inclement weather conditions. The device allows air circulation, and comprises a removable rigid frame (the frame is adapted to be placed over the open hatch), a cover means (adapted to be placed over the frame in order to protect the open hatch against inclement weather conditions), and an attachment means adapted to attach the frame to the hatch when in use. The frame is foldable, and the cover means comprise a waterproof cloth. The cover means is adapted to completely cover three of four vertical sides of the frame, thus shielding the hatch from poor weather conditions, and the remaining one side of the frame remains open for ventilation. The cover means can also comprise a mesh screen adapted to resist insects such as mosquitoes or the like. The frame comprises a plurality of elements connected together by means of three-way corner connections. The attachment means comprise Velcro straps, and the Velcro straps are attached to the frame.
