ABSTRACT An apparatus is disclosed for dewatering fibrous particles suspended in water. The apparatus comprises a head box with a nozzle for applying a pulp suspension on a wire located below the nozzle. A pressure plate is located behind the nozzle and over the pulp suspension. The pressure plate comprises a concavely formed portion against which the pulp suspension is sprayed, and a subsequent convexly formed portion. The fibre web is formed in a forming zone where dewatering is effected in that the convex portion of the pressure plate and an unsupported portion of the wire are pressed against one another.
