Abstract This web transfer unit has the following component: elastic endless belt 55, pressure rolls 50 and 56 which press said belt 55 against hard roll 8a by way of the web, belt drive roll 55 to propel belt 55, tension roll 53 to supply said belt 55 tension, belt guide roll 54, and the pressure device to press rolls 50 and 56 on hard roll 8a. The web transfer system generates the necessary level of draw to doff the web paper by utilizing the deformation of the elastic endless belt 55, described above, which develops when it is pressed against hard roll 8 a, although open draw is at zero.
