ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Webbing 1 for a safety belt is such that at least a portion of longitudinal edge regions 2, 3 having a predetermined width from at least one longitudinal edge toward the center in the transverse direction of the belt is a comparatively pliable woven structure, and a portion other than this comparatively pliable woven structure is a comparatively stiff woven structure. Accordingly, the longitudinal edge portions of the webbing readily flex in the transverse direction, as a result of which the webbing readily fits itself to the wearer and provides a greatly improved feeling of softness. Since the portion other than those having the comparatively pliable woven structure has a comparatively stiff woven structure, the overall webbing resists twisting. Accordingly, the webbing does not twist or fold easily, thereby making it possible to wear and fasten the safety belt simply and effectively.
