A webbing take-up device which, when a webbing belt is pulled out, can reduce urging force applied in a direction of taking up the webbing belt. When a spiral spring 48 rotates an adapter 44 with a plunger 70 engages a ratchet wheel 52, a torsion coil spring 56 is wound tighter on the adapter 44. A resultant force of frictional force at this time and urging force of the torsion coil spring 60 which is fit tightly to adapters 30, 44 is greater than urging force of the spiral spring 48. Thus, the torsion coil spring 60 is slack, and the adapter 30 rotates relatively to the adapter 44. In this way, until the torsion coil spring 60 is fit tightly to the adapters 30, 44, even if the webbing belt 26 is pulled out, urging, force of the spiral spring 48 is not applied to a spool 20.
