A weight lifting glove has a wrist strap connected to the glove portion at the open end of the glove portion and arranged to be by fastening elements such as hook and loop fastenings in an encircling position around the wrist of the wearer. A weight transfer strap has a connected end attached to the open end of the glove on the palm side at right angles to the wrist strap so to as to extend longitudinally of the glove on the palm side from the open end to a free end at the finger portions. A pocket is provided on the wrist strap to retain the weight transfer strap when not in use.
