Disclosed is a "Pet Food Formulation System" (PFFS) that promotes weight loss in pets consuming ad libitum or in controlled rations. The PFFS comprises jojoba meal (JM) in the form of whole fat jojoba seed flour (WFJSF), expeller pressed jojoba seed meal, and/or solvent extracted jojoba seed meal, in combination with simmondsin concentrate (SC) and jojoba oil (JO). Disclosed combinations are designed to both reduce the quantity of pet food consumed by the pet and at the same time reduce the level of calories contributed by the food that is consumed. Simmondsin concentrate and the natural simmondsin content of jojoba meal contained in a pet food for consumption by either dogs or cats serves to reduce pet appetite and, therefore, the amount of food that the pet is inclined to consume. The reduced food consumption is not due to reduced acceptability of the food by the pet, rather by operation of reduced appetite produced by the simmondsin in the pet food formulation.
L'invention concerne un système de formulation d'aliments pour animaux domestiques qui favorise l'amaigrissement chez les animaux par la consommation à volonté ou en rations contrôlées. Ce système comprend de la farine de jojoba (JM) se présentant sous la forme de farine de graines de jojoba entière (WFJSF), de la farine de graines de jojoba pressée par un expeller et/ou de la farine de graines de jojoba extraites à l'aide d'un solvant, combinées à un concentré de simmondsin (SC) et à de l'huile de jojoba. Les combinaisons décrites sont conçues pour réduire à la fois la quantité d'aliment pour animaux domestique consommée par l'animal et pour réduire simultanément la quantité de calories apportées par l'aliment consommé. Le concentré de simmondsin et la teneur en simmondsin naturel de la farine de jojoba contenue dans un aliment de l'invention destiné à des chiens ou des chats permet de diminuer l'appétit de l'animal et, donc la quantité d'aliment que l'animal est susceptible de consommer.
