A weld gauge includes a body having an outer perimeter. The outer perimeter has a first recess between a first set of surface contact points, and a second recess between a second set of surface contact points. An indicator protrudes from the first recess toward the first set of surface contact points a specified distance such that, when the first set of surface contact points are placed on either side of a weld, the indicator indicates whether the weld is too shallow. The second set of contact points on either side of the second recess are offset by a specified distance, such that when the second set of surface contact points are placed on either side of the weld, the position of the surface contact points relative to each face of the materials being welded together indicates whether there is an unacceptable misalignment.
