914,807 Abstract Welding backup having an elongated backing to which is adhered a train of tiles which will support molten metal. The backing is extensible and will readily buckle and the contiguous ends of the tiles have knuckle joints such that the exposed faces of the tiles can be conformed either to concave or convex surfaces while keeping the knuckle joints sufficiently tight to retain molten metal.
