This invention concerns a welding head for welding the extremities of two sections of rail and comprises two half -heads (10) aligned and sliding with regard to one another in a longitudinal di-rection. Each half -head comprises grip means (12, 13) to grasp a respective sec-tion of rail and two electrodes (16) suit-able for contact with respective sections of rail in order to carry out a flash butt weld. The head also comprises traction actuator means (20) which extend in a longitudinal direction and are connected to the two half- heads (10) to shift the two half-headsin a longitudinal direction one towards the other, said traction actua-tor means (20) having a stroke suitable for allowing, during a cycle of welding two sections of rail, simultaneous regula-tion of rail tensions.

Cette invention concerne une tête de soudage pour souder les extrémités de deux sections de rail, qui comporte deux demi-têtes (10) alignées et coulissantes l'une par rapport à l'autre dans une direction longitudinale. Chaque demi-tête comporte des moyens de prise (12, 13) pour saisir une section de rail respective et deux électrodes (16) appropriées pour un contact avec les sections de rail respectives afin d'effectuer un soudage en bout par étincelage. La tête comporte également un moyen d'actionnement de traction (20) qui s'étend dans une direction longitudinale et qui est relié aux deux demi-têtes (10) pour décaler celles-ci dans une direction longitudinale l'une vers l'autre, ledit moyen d'actionnement de traction (20) ayant une course appropriée pour permettre, durant un cycle de soudage de deux sections de rail, une régulation simultanée des tensions des rails.
