Abstract of the Disclosure A covered electrode for producing sound, age- hardenable weld deposits by arc welding comprises a maraging steel composition containing up to 0.05% carbon, 6.5 to 8% nickel, 9.5 to 11.5% chromium, 0.5 to 0.9% silicon, up to 1% molybdenum, up to 0.1% manganese, up to 0.1% aluminum, up to 0.1% titanium, up to 0.01% sulfur, up to 0.015% phosphorus and balance iron and a covering or coating comprising the baked residue from a flux mix- ture consisting essentially of 21 to 35% calcium carbonate, 20 to 26% cryolite, 21 to 35% titania, 3.5 to 7.7% chromium as ferrochromium, 2 1/2 to 5% manganese from the group ferromanganese and manganese carbonate and mix- tures thereof and a silicate binder.
