The present invention provides a process for welding super high purity gas feeding system piping without particularly increasing the internal pressure of the weld by back shielding gas as well as without generating a large volume of particles. Back shielding gas is discharged inward from the head end side of one stainless steel pipe while welding current at the start of arc is held lower than regular welding current for a specified time from the start of arc and thereafter it is increased to regular welding current.
