ABSTRACT A wet and dry pick-up accessory for connection to a vacuum nozzle and a vacuum source, comprising a holding container, an inlet to the holding container for receiving wet and dry material from the vacuum nozzle, an outlet for withdrawing air from the container into the vacuum source, a diffuser connected to the inlet for reducing turbulence of the wet and dry material received into the container so that the wet material settles in the container and is thereby substantially prevented from entering the outlet, and a shut-off valve for closing the outlet in the event that the wet material reaches a predetermined level in the container.
