ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE In developing an electrostatic image by supplying developing liquid to an electrostatic image bearing surface, the developing liquid is brought into contact with the image bearing surface to effect development of the electrostatic image, and then a developing member is urged against the image bearing surface to thereby effect supply of the develop- ing liquid and collection of excess developing liquid by the developing member and thereby effect further development of the electrostatic image.
