ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A mineral comminuting process which comprises comminuting a mineral such as metal ores or organic materials of low water solubility such as coal, drugs and fertilizers, in the presence of a liquid medium comprising an ionic poly- saccharide which is preferably carboxylated. The process results in fluid compositions having improved pumpability or suspension characteristics.
