ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A dewatering wet press felt to be used on papermaking machines and comprising at least one top layer made from staple fibers and the like and facing the paper web (4), and a second layer. The second layer constitutes a barrier layer of such a nature that during the compression phase in the press nip in the press section of the papermaking machine the water is forced through the second layer, but is prevented from flowing back to the top layer and the paper web during the expansion phase after the press nip.
