The invention concerns a method for making a mat with chopped fibers useful for reinforcing thermosetting resins. The method comprises a step which consists in dispersing in white water chopped and dried fibers after they have been oiled with an oiling liquid containing an organosilane and a tackifier, then a step which consists in forming a web by passing the dispersion on a forming fabric through which the process water is drained, the fibers being retained in said fabric, then a step which consists in applying a binder, followed by a heat treatment step. Chopped fiber mats with uniform surface mass generally ranging between 50 and 1100 g/m?2¿ are obtained. The cut fibers hardly lose their filament texture within the mat.

L'invention concerne un procédé de fabrication d'un mat à fils coupés utilisable pour le renforcement de résines thermodurcissables. Le procédé comprend une étape de mise en dispersion dans une eau de procédé de fils coupés et séchés apres ensimage par un liquide d 'ensimage comprenant un organosilane et un agent collant, puis, une étape de formation d'une nappe par passage de la dispersion sur une toile de formation a travers laquelle l'eau de procédé est drainée, les fils étant retenus sur ladite toile, puis, une étape d'application d'un liant, puis, une étape de traitement thermique. Des mats a fil coupé à la masse surfacique regulière et généralement comprise entre 50 et 1100 g/m2 sont obtenus. Les fils coupés sont peu défilamentarisés au sein du mat.
