A method and system provide for the production of mineral fiber boards using at least 25 % (preferably at least about 90 %) inorganic fibers having enhanced uniformity, compressive strength, and dimensional stability. The source of fibers may be pre and/or post consumer recycled fiberglass. A liquid slurry of solids, including at least 25 % inorganic fibers having an average length of at least about one-half inch, with a solids consistency of about 0.4- 8 % is formed. A pack at least about one inch thick is formed from the slurry using a foraminous element, and water is extracted. The pack is dried, and binder may be added and cured, to produce a product at least about one inch thick. Exhaust gases from the drier may be filtered by passage through the pack prior to drying, while also facilitating dewatering of the pack.

L'invention concerne un procédé et un système de production de panneaux en fibres minérales utilisant au moins 25 % (de préférence au moins 90 %) de fibres inorganiques présentant une uniformité renforcée, une résistance à la compression et une stabilité dimensionnelle. Les fibres peuvent provenir des fibres de verre recyclées pré et/ou post consommation. On forme un coulis liquide de solides, comprenant au moins 25 % de fibres inorganiques d'une longueur moyenne d'au moins 1/2 pouce, des solides d'une consistance d'environ 0,4-8 %. Un paquet, épais d'au moins un pouce environ, est formé à partir du coulis à l'aide d'un élément foraminé, l'eau étant extraite par la suite. On sèche le paquet. On peut alors ajouter et durcir un liant, de façon à réaliser un produit d'au moins un pouce d'épaisseur. On peut filtrer les gaz s'échappant du séchoir en les faisant traverser le paquet avant séchage, ce qui facilite également la déshydratation du paquet.
