In a sprinkler system for warehouse freezers or other cold environments (11), a sprinkler system piping (17) is connected to a water supply (23) through a check valve (25) and extends through a freez-ing cold environment to sprinkler heads (13) positioned to discharge extinguishant. The sprinkler system piping (17) within the cold environment is filled with a so-lution of pottasium lactate. When a fire occurs casing one or more of the sprinkler heads to be activated, the sprinkler heads will discharge the potassium lactate onto the fire. This action will reduce the pres-sure in the sprinkler system piping below that of the water supply so that water flows from the water supply through the sprin-kler system piping through the activated sprinkler heads (13) to be discharged upon the fire.

L'invention concerne une installation d'extinction automatique pour des congélateurs d'entrepôts ou autres environnements froids (11) dans laquelle une tuyauterie (17) d'installation d'extinction automatique est reliée à une alimentation en eau (23) par l'intermédiaire d'un clapet de retenue (25) et traverse un environnement froid de congélation pour arriver à des gicleurs (13) placés pour projeter l'agent extincteur.
