Abstract A wheel nut for fastening vehicle wheels onto the wheel hub (42) consists of a nut body (2) with a head segment (4) and a neck segment (6) coaxial to this on which a pressure plate (8) is seated unlosably and rotatably. The neck segment (6) protrudes beyond the contact surface of the pressure plate and carries an internal thread (22) in such a way that it includes threads of the bolt (44) which are still located inside the through hole (48,54) of the wheel disk (46,52) and thus is usable even when there is only a short projecting length of the bolt, because of a large material thickness of light metal wheels. The neck segment (6) projecting into the through hole (48,54) can also serve for bolt centering of the wheel in interaction with the through hole (48,54).
