ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A wheelchair in which right and left travelling wheels (4) and (4) are provided on the both sides of the body supporting the seat, and tiltable plates are provided outside the sides of said seat. The travel- ling wheels are provided at positions not hindering tilting of the tiltable plates or moved to positions not hindering tilting of the tiltable plate. This wheelchair can freely travel by a person sitting down on the seat who turns the travelling wheels by his or her own exertion, or by an attendant who pushes the handles. Getting on or off can be accomplished in an easy posture transversely by opening the side of the seat after tilting the tiltable plate. - 20 -
