A wheelchair system is provided for use with conventional passenger vehicles. The system includes a wheelchair frame for supporting a conventional seat of the vehicle thereon for rolling movement along the ground. The wheelchair frame includes a lift frame which permits the seat to be supported thereon at various heights and inclinations relative to the ground. A portable ramp permits the wheelchair frame to be rolled in and out of the vehicle. A docking system mounts in place of conventional existing floor anchors in the floor of the vehicle for securing the wheelchair frame thereon in a transport position. The use of the wheelchair frame and the docking system permits a vehicle such as a mini-van to be adapted to transport a disabled person requiring the use of a wheelchair, with no structural modification required to the vehicle while providing a comfortable and aesthetically pleasing seat for the disabled person.
L'invention concerne un système de chaise roulante, à utiliser avec des véhicules de tourisme conventionnels. Le système comporte un bâti conçu pour supporter un siège de véhicule classique et pour imprimer un mouvement de roulement sur le plancher. Le bâti comporte un cadre élévateur qui permet au siège d'avoir une hauteur et une inclinaison réglables par rapport au plancher. Une rampe portable permet au bâti de la chaise roulante d'être transporté dans le véhicule et hors de celui-ci. Un système d'arrimage, au lieu d'un dispositif d'ancrage au sol classique, se fixe dans le plancher du véhicule afin d'immobiliser le bâti de la chaise roulante dans une position de transport. L'utilisation du bâti de chaise roulante et du système d'arrimage permet d'adapter, sans modification structurelle, un véhicule, tel qu'un mini-bus, de façon à pouvoir transporter une personne handicapée nécessitant une chaise roulante, tout en offrant à cette personne un siège confortable et esthétique.
