The present invention relates to a method and to a device for separating plasma from whole blood. The method and device utilize a permeable non-glass fiber matrix (4) containing a polyol which is capable of clumping red blood cells. The matrix (4), in the absence of such a polyol, would otherwise be porous to red blood cells. The polyol-containing matrix (4) has a first surface and a second surface such that a whole blood sample which is applied to the first surface flows directionally toward the second surface. Plasma separated from whole blood becomes available at the second surface of the matrix (4) and can be tested for the presence of a particular analyte, such as glucose or frutosamine, as provided by reagent layers, including a buffer layer (6) and an indicator layer (7) in a multilayer test device (1) of the present invention.
Cette méthode et ce dispositif de séparation du plasma du sang entier font intervenir une trame (4) en fibre non-vitreuse perméable renfermant un polyol, capable d'entraîner l'agglutination des hématies. En l'absence d'un tel polyol, cette trame (4) serait poreuse aux hématies. Cette trame renfermant un polyol (4) comporte une première et une deuxième surface, de telle sorte que l'échantillon de sang entier appliqué sur la première surface s'écoule de manière orientée en direction de la deuxième surface. Le plasma séparé du sang entier est obtenu sur la deuxième surface de la trame (4). Il peut faire l'objet d'une recherche de certaines substances à analyser, comme le glucose ou la fructosamine, selon ce que prévoient les couches de réactifs, qui comprennent une couche tampon (6) et une couche révélatrice (7) du dispositif d'analyse multi-couche (1) de la présente invention.
