A wholly aromatic polyamide fiber which has excellent mechanical properties (toughness factor) and can be produced while attaining satisfactory operation stability in the fiber formation step. The fiber comprises 100 parts by mass of a wholly aromatic polyamide and 0.05 to 20 parts by mass of particles of a lamellar clay mineral, e.g., hectorite, saponite, stivensite, beidellite, montmorillonite, or swelling mica.

L'invention concerne une fibre à base de polyamide 100 % aromatique qui possède d'excellentes propriétés mécaniques (facteur de ténacité) et qui peut être produite avec obtention d'une stabilité de fonctionnement satisfaisante lors de l'étape de formation de la fibre. Cette fibre comprend 100 parties en poids d'un polyamide 100 % aromatique et 0,05 à 20 parties en poids de particules d'un minéral argileux lamellaire, tel que l'hectorite, la saponite, la stivensite, la beidellite, la montmorillonite ou le mica gonflant.
