60412-1986 ABSTRACT Disclosed is wide dynamic range video imaging apparatus including apparatus for providing a plurality of video images of a scene at different exposure levels and apparatus for processing the plurality of video images to produce a combined video image including image information from the plurality of video images and including enhanced detail at local areas therein. The apparatus for processing the plurality of video images may include apparatus for locally enhancing the dynamic range of portions of the combined video image, for preserving edge indicating informa- tion in the combined video image and/or apparatus for apply- ing neighborhood transforms to the plurality of video images.
