ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A cartridge for connecting the disunited fascia of a patient, comprises staples contained in a main body and an anvil at one end of the main body, each of the staples comprising a pair of parallel arms having a round cross-section terminating in points which extend in a longitudinal direction of the cart- ridge, a cross-piece including a transverse center section ex- tending substantially perpendicular to and transversely of the arms and arcuate sections having a round cross-section connecting the arms and the transverse center section, the latter compris- ing a flat central portion for receiving the points of the arms at the final stage of staple formation around the anvil to pre- vent the points from skewing, and being positioned relatively near a line drawn between the points.
