APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING A WIDE FORMAT THERMAL PLOTTER USING NARROW STAGGERED PRINT HEADS. Inventor: Raja Singh Tuli Mississauga ON. Assignee: Appl. No.: Filed: Int. Cl.: U.S. Cl.: Field of Search: ABSTRACT: A wide format plotter is to be made from a series of narrow print heads commercially available (at low costs). If two rows of print heads were used with the bottom row overlapping the top row in print with then there will be no gap in printing across the page. This technique can be applied to virtually any width plotter desired, by increasing the number of print heads and software modifications accordingly. Compared to other staggered head methods, this invention is far superior due to fixed heads. Separately hinged narrow heads lead to problems in alignment of printed strips and increased friction for the drive mechanism to overcome. (6) CLAIMS, (2) DRAWINGS
