A method of forming a wide mouth blow molded thermoplastic container (1) comprising the steps of i) stretch blow molding from a preform (5), an intermediate article defining the container with the mouth being threaded (12) and/or flanged, the mouth terminating in an accommodation element (10) having a neck finish (6) that supports the preform (5) in the blow mold (11); ii) heat setting the intermediate article including the entire container (1) while still in the mold (11); and iii) removing the intermediate article of manufacture from the mold (11) and severing the accommodation element (10) to produce the container (1), and an article when made by the method. The method also includes post forming of a rim portion (17, 18, 19) of the container (1) following separation of the container (1) from the accommodation element (10).

Procédé pour former un conteneur (1) en thermoplastique à large ouverture, moulé par soufflage. Ce procédé consiste i) à étirer une préforme (5) en la moulant par soufflage pour obtenir un article intermédiaire formant un conteneur dont l'ouverture est filetée (12) et/ou forme une collerette, cette ouverture se terminant par un élément (10) d'adaptation comportant un goulot (6) et supportant la préforme (5) dans le moule de soufflage (11); ii) à stabiliser par traitement thermique l'article intermédiaire, comprenant le conteneur (1) entier pendant qu'il se trouve toujours dans le moule (11); et iii) à retirer l'article intermédiaire du moule (11) et à détacher l'élément d'adaptation (10) pour produire le conteneur (1). L'invention porte également sur un article obtenu par ce procédé et sur le postformage d'une partie rebord (17, 18, 19) du conteneur (1) après que le conteneur (1) a été séparé de l'élément (10).
