A Voltage Controlled Oscillator (VCO) with the ability to tune its operating frequency over a wide range using a limited control voltage range. The VCO implements a novel resonant circuit that provides the wide frequency tuning range and simultaneously provides increased immunity to induced low frequency noise. The resonant circuit utilizes an element configuration that includes high pass filters (402, 422 and 404, 424) on each input to the resonant circuit. Varactor diodes (432, 434) are used to couple a conventional tuning circuit to the remainder of the resonant circuit. This configuration allows the resonant frequency to tune over a wide range using a limited control voltage range.
La présente invention concerne un oscillateur à tension variable (VCO) qui présente la capacité d'accorder sa fréquence de fonctionnement sur une large gamme, par utilisation d'une gamme de tension de commande limitée. Ledit VCO met en oeuvre un nouveau circuit résonnant qui fournit la large gamme d'accord de fréquence et permet simultanément d'augmenter l'immunité au bruit de basse fréquence induit. Ledit circuit résonnant utilise une configuration des éléments qui comprend des filtres passe-haut (402, 422 et 404, 424) à chaque entrée au circuit résonnant. Des diodes à capacité variable (432, 434) sont utilisées pour coupler un circuit d'accord classique au reste du circuit résonnant. Cette configuration permet à la fréquence de résonance de s'accorder sur une large gamme, par utilisation d'une gamme de tension de commande limitée.
