A wireless communication system basestation making use of a wideband, multichannel digital transceiver having incorporated therein a time division multiple-access (TDM) bus for providing digital samples of a plurality of wireless communication channels, wherein the time slot duration and frame rate of the TDM bus may be reconfigured. The invention allows various air interface standards, even those having different channel bandwidths, to be serviced by the same basestation, without having to install additional or different equipment, and by automatically redistributing signal processing resources, eliminating the need to reconfigure the basestation when different types of wireless signalling must be accomodated.
Station de base d'un système de télécommunications sans fils utilisant un émetteur/récepteur numérique multicanal à large bande comportant un bus à multiplexage par partage de temps (TDM) fournissant des échantillons numériques de plusieurs canaux de télécommunications sans fils et dans lequel il est possible de reconfigurer la largeur des créneaux de temps. L'invention est compatible avec différents standards d'interface air et même avec ceux de différentes largeurs de canaux qui peuvent être desservis par les mêmes stations de base sans qu'il soit nécessaire d'installer d'équipements additionnels ou différents, du fait de la redistribution automatique des ressources de traitement des signaux, ce qui élimine la nécessité de reconfigurer les stations de base lorsqu'on doit faire face à différents types de signaux de radiocommunications.
