Abstract of the Disclosure A wind-driven power plant has a rotor assembly comprising at least one rotor coupled to a current generator, a support means supporting the rotor assembly and current generator, and means for aligning the rotor assembly in the wind direction. To take advantage of high altitude wind conditions a support means is used which comprises at least one aerostatic suspension body, carrying its own weight as well as the weight of additional assemblies connected thereto comprising the rotor assembly, current generator, and alignment means. The suspension body is adapted to be connected through at least one captivating stay to an anchorage means on the ground or to a floating body at sea. The rotor assembly may consist of at least one pair of coaxially mounted counterrotating rotors having their moment of rotation compensated. The suspension body is coupled to the captivating stay through a universal joint connection and a number of captivating stays may be used to retain the plant in position.
