The Wind Energy Conversion Unit (WECU) according to the invention is intended to convert the wind energy into electrical energy at a high efficiency and with a low impact on the environment. The wind enters a prismatic case where its kinetic energy is converted into potential energy by means of the stagnation pressure inside the unit. After that, the air is expanded through a vertical axis turbine from the total pressure to a static pressure lower than the athmospheric one, provided by the accelerated air flow over the top of unit, accordingly designed. Since a high pressure drop is acting on the turbine, a significant amount of mechanical power is achieved which in turn will be converted into electrical power. The unit according to the invention can be used as a very efficient source of green power, either as independent energy source or as part of a power plant.
Conformément à l'invention, le convertisseur d'énergie éolienne est destiné à convertir l'énergie éolienne en énergie électrique selon un rendement élevé et avec peu d'incidence sur l'environnement. Le vent pénètre dans un carter prismatique dans lequel son énergie cinétique est convertie en énergie potentielle par pression de stagnation à l'intérieur du convertisseur. Ensuite, l'air est expansé à travers une turbine a axe vertical, de la pression totale à une pression statique inférieure à celle de l'atmosphère un, fournie par l'écoulement de l'air accéléré sur le desssus du convertisseur, conçu en conséquence. Étant que la turbine subit une grande chute de pression, une quantité importante d'énergie mécanique est obtenue, laquelle est convertie en énergie électrique. Conformément à l'invention ,le convertisseur peut servir comme source très efficace d'énergie verte, soit comme source d'énergie indépendante, ou comme élément d'une centrale électrique.
