ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The disclosure relates to a wind energy convertor comprising one or more vanes adapted to rotate about a common axle. The vanes are spaced from the axle and each vane has its own axis around which it is adapted to rotate, the axis being closer to one side of the vane. Means engageable and lockable with the oscillating vanes are provided to permit only limited rotary movement of each of the vanes around its own axis in such a way that the wind acting on the vanes when the means are locked, creates a torque around the common axle in the direction of its rotation. Similar lockable means can also be used with stationa- ry vanes of a special air foil cross section, which lock the vanes fixedly on radial arms. When unlocking the locking means, in both cases, the oscillating or stationary vanes take feather- ing position.
