A wind generator (20) mounted on a vertical axis (30) and comprising a turbine (22) floating on a foundation (24) erected in a crater surrounded by a mound of earth (36). The turbine (22) comprises a number of semicircular blades (32) joining upper (28) and lower (42) cones so as to create an annular chamber (56). This turbine (22) rests on a float (50) that can be filled with water ballast (64) to add weight and increase the torque on the turbine. On the upper part of the foundation (24) is a basin (66) containing float water (68) on which the float (50) rests, thereby permitting the turbine (22) to rotate. The level of the float water (68) can be lowered to make the turbine (22) sink into the crater to minimize the area of air entering the blades in the case of violent wind. The lower part of the foundation (24) contains generating machinery (60).

Une éolienne 20 bâtie selon un axe vertical 30 et comprenant une turbine 22 flottant sur une fondation 24 érigée dans un cratère entouré d'un monticule 36. La turbine 22 comprend un nombre de pales 32 semi-circulaires unissant des cônes supérieur 28 et inférieur 42 de façon à créer une chambre annulaire 56.
