ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A wind powered turbine has a rotor member ro- tatable on a supporting member about a vertical rotation axis and carrying rotor blades at positions spaced around and equidistant from the rotation axis, each blade compris- ing two half blade portions of aerofoil section, each half blade portion defining the total width of the rotor blade and being mounted at a central region for pivotal movement as a whole relative to the other half blade portion. A reefing device pivots the half blade portions in opposite directions so as to move them from a position parallel to the rotation axis to a position at which they form an angle to the rotation axis whilst remaining in the plane defined by the axis of rotation and the rotor member.
