A buoyant platform apparatus (36), such as a buoy, is described that comprises a laser radar (lidar) wind speed measurement (20) device. The lidar (22) is arranged to make wind velocity measurements at one or more remote probe volumes of known position relative to said platform (36). The wind speed measurement apparatus may further comprise motion sensing means (26) that, in use, monitor motion of the platform (36) allowing wind speed at an absolute position in space to be measured. Wind velocity data may also be compensated for platform movement.

L'invention concerne un appareil à plate-forme flottante (36), tel qu'une bouée, comprenant un dispositif de mesure (20) de la vitesse du vent à radar laser (lidar). Le lidar (22) est disposé de manière à prendre des mesures de la vitesse du vent au niveau d'un ou plusieurs volumes de sonde à distance d'une position connue par rapport à la plate-forme (36). L'appareil de mesure de la vitesse du vent peut également comprendre des moyens de détection du mouvement (26) surveillant, pendant l'utilisation, le mouvement de la plate-forme (36), de manière à pouvoir mesurer la vitesse du vent au niveau d'une position absolue dans l'espace.
