This invention utilizes principles of physics and aerodynamics in a different way than present state of the art wind turbines. A stationary spherical head in front of its multi bladed turbine rotor displaces and increases the speed of wind addressed, over 70% of the total frontal area of this preferred version of the wind turbine. A larger number of short turbine blades is then addressed by the displaced and faster moving wind mass within the outer 30% of the radius from axle center to the blade tips. Wind speed over the surface of the half sphere shape is increased by a ratio of one quarter of the circumference of a sphere of that size, over the radius of that same sphere, and amounts to 57%. This is reduced to 46%, by drag factors. Available kinetic energy is increased by 1.46 cubed, and comes to 311%. The higher velocity wind mass is totally utilized to drive a large number of turbine blades with their outer tips defining the outer circumference of an extended area, beyond the outer circumference of the said spherical head, and which, as an extension of same, has the same cross sectional area as the said spherical head. (We are speaking of a flat disc frontal cross section area.) The net result is that all of the higher velocity wind addresses all of the frontal cross section of all of the turbine blades, where in this preferred version of the invention, we have 24 turbine blades. What is achieved by this arrangement, is that we now have a much more efficient wind turbine, recovering a maximum amount of energy from wind addressed thereby. With its larger number of comparatively short turbine blades addressing all of the wind which has been speeded up as it is displaced by the said spherical head, we now have a high torque wind turbine, which will produce useable power at lower wind speeds, and will tolerate much higher wind speeds. Of some further advantage, is a conical rear extending body behind the turbine rotor. This provides very adequate space behind the said rotor area for the internalized placement of electrical generators and other systems which can be driven by the wind turbine. Technicians servicing drive components of the wind turbine can do so within the rear extending body of the wind turbine, in more comfort, protected from the weather, and more safely surrounded by the said large rear extending body.
