ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: If the coils of electric machines or apparatus are protected against transient overvoltages by metal oxide resistors, there is a danger of thermal aging of the metal oxide resistors by the dissipation heat of the winding. In order to avoid the reduction of the breakdown voltage of the metal oxide resistors connected therewith, the latter are surrounded at least partially by a solid heat insulator of plastic. Exposed parts of the metal oxide resistors are arranged in the cooling air stream of the machine.
